Torrent question
No idea why, but recently my torrent client has stopped connecting to trackers. I cant DL or UL anything.
I have a mac and upgraded the OS recently, but I dont think it's that as I have DL'd stuff since then...
I've tried torrents from lots of different places, and no luck on any.
Any idea what the problem could be?

Re: Torrent question
It may be your ISP.
Some ISPs will throttle you connection and/or block target addresses if you are found to be using some file sharing systems. It may or may not be that.

Re: Torrent question
I tried using BitTorrent instead, but no joy.
I've now downloaded Transmission, and that appears to be working fine.
Strange.
Thanks all....

Re: Torrent question
I use Utorrent on my Mac, they released a new version the other day, so far so good.

Re: Torrent question
I wasn't intending to suggest that anyone is stealing. I simple wish to ensure that the creators obtain their just recompense and all that. I want those that create things I enjoy to have an incentive to continue doing so. Seems only fair to me.

Re: Torrent question
Don't really care to be honest. I don't see downloading as immoral in this instance.
From: http://reason.com/archives/2006/12/0...k-libertarians
Reason: When it looked like Comedy Central wasn’t going to rerun the Mary episode, people were still able to download it illegally online. Did you see that as a victory for free speech, or did you think, “My God, these people are stealing our intellectual property”?
Stone: We’re always in favor of people downloading. Always.
Reason: Why?
Stone: It’s how a lot of people see the show. And it’s never hurt us. We’ve done nothing but been successful with the show. How could you ever get mad about somebody who wants to see your stuff?
Parker: We worked really hard making that show, and the reason you do it is because you want people to see it.
