I may be wrong but I think the FIFA world ranking is vastly skewed by results in competitive matches as Brazil are hosts for 2014 they are not playing many competitive matches (if any) and therefore are falling behind..........historically it was the same reason in reverse for USA and Mexico who only ever seem to be playing a competitive match every week in the pre pre pre world cup group (and winning) therefore they were nearly always in the top 6
