Benitez could well still be at Anfield next season. I can only see him getting canned if new ownership comes in with the money to compensate him, and under those circumstances he may not want to go anyway. A change of ownership seems unlikely in the short term as Gillette and Hicks have got unrealistic ideas about the value of a club thats $230M in debt and still needs a new stadium and some marquee players if its going to challege the likes of Chelsea, Man U, even Man City. Those two dont have the balls or the footballing authority to fire him, and cant afford the compensation anyway, and no one else is likely to offer the salary and security he has now, so I dont think he will leave unless pushed.
I dont know if thats a good or a bad thing anyway, he's a good manager tactically, but I wonder if he lacks something in the way of motivational powers on a cold drab midweek league game away to Blackburn or Bolton. Whoever manages desperately needs some support for Torres and someone with a creative spark to unlock some of the less inspired games.
"Interesting" times ahead Im afraid...

Thanks for the belated karma there Iain, but do you think you'd have the willpower to not open the spoiler??
Let's test that... here you go

You're calling the Ginger Prince a minger?? WTH???
If you can't have a little kiss and a cuddle now and again where would you be in life?
I'll even volunteer to kiss Torres if s/he make a miraculous comeback and scores against Chelsea.
Not sure I could slip Gerrard the tongue though even if he does score
