I fear that an enforced strict diet might prompt him to claim this also being cruel and unusual punishment.

Everyone around here sounds rather bloodthirsty. Are you sure some of you didn't mean to end up in Texas? Wrong turn at Albuquerque?

Not at all, I believe that everyone should abide by the local laws or face the local penalties (wherever you are). My own views on capital punishment are irrelevant. So if this guy was found guilty of crimes and sentenced to death, then that is what he should get. I don't see that a 'health' problem should allow him to avoid his punishment.

Some here might recall this case. It lasted fron 1948 to 1960. I recall the BBC news on radio when word came that he was finally dispatched.
This was California’s first death penalty for crimes other than murder. And to give him his dues Chessman did his utmost to wheedle his way out of his sentence. He managed to defer eight executions through lengthy battles with the courts. Needless to say his appeals failed or you wouldn’t be reading this.

What I think is irrelevant. If you break a law in a country, you can expect to be subject to the punishment in that country.
There are plenty of things that happen in plenty of countries that I don't think are okay. There are certain things that I or my elected representatives can do to protest against them. But until the the appropriate laws/punishments are changed I continue to expect the 'offenders' to be subject to them.
It is no good having been caught 'offending', to then turn round and try to avoid the consequences. I feel just the same about those poor little tourists who find themselves being whipped or stoned or locked up for years in a foreign jail for being caught with drugs. It is irrelevant that they would have got off with a caution or a few hours of community service in the UK for example, if they offended and were caught elsewhere.
Finally, because you asked, no I don't think it is okay to be executed or punished in any way because of sexual preference, race or religion, unfortunately many leaders past and present do not share that view.

The real crime here is teh fact that he's been on death row for what 22 years? Too long, that's a long normal prison sentence never mind anything else. In the US they really take too long to get around to carrying out the sentence in these cases. Yes wait a year or two just to be sure appeals and the like have time to go through, but all these people who've been on death row for 20+ years is just wrong.

Texas...now there's progress. They have an 'express lane' for those condemed...two credible eye witnesses to the murder...and its good night buddy...no waiting...right to the front of the Q....
