February in Tofino? Nope. It is windy, grey and somewhat grim in August, cannot imagine what it is like in Feb. If you do go, beware the tippy whale watching boats....
Fully aware of tippy whale watching boats as we used the 1998 one as a case study for part of a Transport Canada boating course. |

That would necessitate an unwanted move as my condo is too small to accommodate little piglets running around the place.

There must something more to this to make cheap Canadians splash our $400 a night on a seaside hotel room.(
Blame foreigners (especially Americans). Everything is priced for them at the moment. eg I was at Whistler for a couple of nights in January. Stayed at the Hilton, which was the cheapest available (with the BR Residents' Discount and free parking). It was almost DOUBLE the price it was last January... Vancouver hotels are expensive this year - the boss (no, the one at work, not 'er indoors) was complaining when he was in town last week - and he's not even paying for the hotel himself... I can imagine Tofino would be similarly gouging, although it is Valentine's and Storm watching season too I guess. I like Tofino and Ucluelet - have been a couple of times. Probably nicer when we went last July than it is now however... We've stayed at Water's Edge in Ucluelet, which was nice. It's not one of the more expensive locations, but it's more Apartments than Hotel. Water's Edge Shoreside Suites - Ucluelet Accommodation You can have a bath on the deck and everything.... |
Re: Tofino
Keep in mind Whistler also had way better snow this Jan vs last which also increased the amount of Canadian visitors and visitors in general.
