Tim Hortons Drive Thru?
#1
The two Tim Hortons I drive past to work (I know only two but it is a short commute) both had queues for the drive thru extending onto the main road this morning. That probably means approx 15 cars at one and 10 at the other.
A few weeks ago I remember I was waiting at the lights on Heritage at Deerfoot Meadows when a pick up came down the hill from the opposite direction. It looked like he was going to wait at the lights to do a left turn but instead suddenly drove left over the central reservation and into the strip mall and then joined the queue for the Tim Hortons drive thru. There were probably approx 6 cars ahead of him in the queue. So he was in such a rush he was willing to risk a driving ticket and then just joined the queue?
Maybe when I've been here long enough such behaviour will just seem normal?

Yeah I've had a truck cut infront of me from the outside lane and do a sharp turn in to Tims. It's crazy and I really don't see the appeal.

I love Tim Hortons, they're cheap, you can get a nice selection of stuff for breakfast for 2 people and it usually comes to under $10. In Canada, such value is really quite exceptional.
The Drive Thru's are horrendously slow though. On more than one occasion I've had to convince my girlfriend to just pull up and go inside because it's usually a lot faster. Mind you, in this weather it becomes less appealing to get out your warm car.

My breakfast is always cheaper than that, much much healthier (apart from a festive coffee) and probably tastes a lot better. I make it at home.

The idea of a Tim Hortons' Drive Thru (I can't believe I've just typed that) is appealing. But I'm torn between using a steam roller or a Sherman tank.
Any suggestions?

During our short trip this year, I too noticed this weird obsession with the drive thru at Timmies.
I just parked the car, walked inside to the EMPTY store, got my crappy coffee and box of 40 million Timbits, and was back in the car before the queue had even moved, lol.
I do have to confess to being a coffee noob. I only started this year, so Timmies coffee albiet crap, is a good starter for me
Triple triple with cream is my poison....quite literally

I think part of the attraction for expats is the illusion of "integrating with the local community" by eating what the locals eat. At least I think that's it as I can't think of any other reason to eat the crap they pass off as food there.
