Re: Tim Horton's
I am not arguing about coffee. I don't like it so I don't care whether Timmies, Starbucks or the stuff obtained by sucking the digested juices of coffee beans from the stomach of an ostrich is better.
It would appear that you believe your choice of coffee is better than the choice of those that "know no better". I find such arrogance bizarre.

110cals, 1g fat, 3g protein, 22g carbs, 0g fibre, 13g sugar.......not good i'll agree especially if I was on Atkins but having just checked their ingredients on the allergy info it says just milk products, would that ingredient be listed somewhere else??

TH website tells me that for a medium Iced capp with milk the stats are:
220kcals
2g fat (1g saturated)
5mg cholesterol
46g sugars.
46 grams of sugar!!! That is over 11 spoons of sugars, almost certainly HFCS.
It's a timebomb in a cup.

I checked and no it isn't available, but you can be fairly sure that those sugars are actually HFCS.

I don't consume that much added sugar in a decade.

Re: Tim Horton's
I do only have an medium iced coffee with milk not iced capp (capp is sweetened and I don't like sweet coffee) so I feel a little better but still worth remembering when I quit smoking and start piling on the pounds more than the normal Canadian food is already doing

Mmm, I have a similar opinion, I suspect for the same reason, being diabetic everything you have to do to make it palatable is not healthy for a diabetic. I only go in there for the doughnuts (which are also not good for a diabetic but at least they taste good. )

I've heard that HFCS is major contributor to obesity. Should it be banned/regulated or is it ok for food companies to destroy the health of those who don't know any better?

Two Tim Horton's within 3km. Also a Starbucks, Second Cup and place called Good Earth. I've never been inside any of them.

Re: Tim Horton's
I don't know. Sugar is artificially expensive in North America which drives the use of HFCS. In any case, it's my empirical opinion that North America has a much bigger culture of sweetened processed food than Europe, so the problem is magnified here.

I was lead to believe that HCFS was called "glucose-fructose" on Canadian ingredients labels...is this true?
the amount of things that contain this over here is unreal...it wasn't something i ever really noticed in the UK...it was the "hydrogenated fats" i used to watch for
