Smile Things you have done in Canada that you would never have done back home....

Well - I'm in a very excited and happy mood as this afternoon I am heading off with my 13 yr old daughter and her Cheerleading team to Indianapolis - for a National competition. I don't know who is more excited!

Although involved in activities back home, I don't think we would have done anything like this!

Just wondered what you all have experienced in Canada - that frankly, you would have never done/tried back home?

I have done a lot more boating here but overall activities (sports/recreational/social) I did much more back in the UK, so its a definitely a net loss for me here.

I'm learning to fly, and did my first solo flight last week. Wouldn't have been practical in he UK, as it's around twice the price and I didn't live in walking distance of an international airport.

Be stuck with 10% (approx) increases in Local Taxes on an annual basis....and see everyone shrug there shoulders and say 'well, what do you do'?.........a most un-British response I fear....

That's actually a comment on social mobility in Canada and the availability of the rural lifestyle; I would never have been in a position to own a donkey; intact or not, in the UK.

Also,

Attended remedial French class for backwards parents - school isn't in French in the UK.

Took up sailing - social mobility again, I thought it a snob thing in the UK.

Took up riding - see above.

Snow showing - not necessary in the UK.

Skiing, hiking and camping pretty much most weekends, depending on season.

Shoveling snow - but that's countered by not having to cut the grass, so that's a net zero there.

Been given free pancakes and sausage for breakfast on numerous occasions.

Paid $25 for a bottle of wine (just for ordinary drinking at home)

Ran over a bear.
