I wish people would complain instead of just putting up with crap.

For example last night at the cinema there was a parent sitting in the very front row with a 3yr old child. This child was walking around the cinema, touching the screen, continuously dropping her toy (on purpose) and the Mother did not bat an eye lid. It ruined about 30 minutes of the film. All I could see were people shaking their head and not doing a damn thing about it.

If that were in England the parent would have been shouted at and pop corn thrown at her. Here people just accepted that she had no control over her kid and raised their eyebrows.

When the movie had finished and people were walking out, she was the topic of conversation and almost everyone was moaning about "that kid".

You may be asking yourself why I didn't complain... I was at the back, but had I of been sitting near her, I would have been the first one to shout at her.

Snow plows that don't deposit a snowbank across the drive....or they come back and clear it.

Radio fivelive type broadcasts (not just sport) on the radio at an hour I'd like to hear it.

The ability to put The Guardian in my hands so I can sit and read a good newspaper.

Seriously? Anything under £4.50 a bottle when I left (2004) and I'd be using it for cooking. Anything for less, especially 5 years on, and I imagine I'd be putting it on chips.

Not being defensive at all merely curious about your posts where you are regularly espousing the drawbacks of the place.

Why assume that I don't like the topic?

I thought it was an appropriate point to pose the question. My apologies, I should start a thread about this subject...

The question came over as rather a rhetorical and hackneyed one but as you don't live here I will assume sincerity. :)

I very much doubt that was my first mistake in life. Still, I think it's probably true that there are more firearms per capita in Canada than in the US. There are great chunks of the US where firearms are banned completely and none, that I know of, in Canada.

Someone I know lent his Amex card to his son. He dropped $300,000 in one night gambling on line. Wiped out a lifetime of savings.

I bet he wished Amex didn't allow gambling.

$300k - who has that sort of limit on their credit card anyway? (or is Amex different)

Amex cards, proper Amex charge cards, have no limit.

Washington DC for a start.

NYC is close, there is such a thing as a permit but no one can get one.

Dodgy, though, if you don't use them for a few months, or do something out of the norm. I had that problem recently.

I believe they have either repealed or are going to repeal the DC ban as its was deemed unconstitutional.

When I lived there most people just got their guns from Virginia.

You've just reminded me... when I started work - in 1989, lest anyone think it was the 70s - some of the more senior guys used to get Luncheon Vouchers. They were insanely jealous of that perk. Do LVs still exist?

Not a problem for me. I don't suppose there's been a day in the past fifteen years when I didn't use the Amex.
