I'll be in NYC for the weekend. Looking forward to dinner at a place that just moved from 1 to 3 Michelin stars this week. Should be good.
Generally I hate long weekends. It just means five days work gets packed into the remaining four.

Not at all. I'll have to mark a midterm but I think I can manage that without major drama. Enjoy din-dins in NY. I'm stuck with NZ's version of mid 1950's english cuisine.

I will be at a Swap Meet on Saturday (we've got a table booked so we'll hopefully make some money). Sunday or Monday I will be accompanying OH on a truck buying/picking up trip to Calgary with a stop off at Pine Lake for engine buying and Mustang viewing/buying. On the alternating day I will be cooking a roast something (probably beef as I have a joint in the freezer) and apple/leaf/poop picking up. DD has a job dog sitting, she'll be home for food though

Shudder. For that I do have some pity. Compensate with a copious amount of good wine which obviously you won't share.

At the risk of being called a bit of a wanker, this is the menu. Yes, you merely choose from a main ingredient....

Isn't that why you have graduate students or if the dept budget is a bit tight, Scantron grading machines while you sit back sipping a cheekily blended merlot?

I think that went without saying, but if you are looking for clarity:

Only a wanker would eat at such a restaurant.

Happy now?

I once ate at a much wankier place than Eleven back in the early 90s. The Quilted Giraffe, I want to say it was great but seeing as I was so pissed I only really remember the first two dishes.

Looks rather good actually. Did you see Michael Douglas or Charlie Sheen? I intend being fairly pissed at dinner (obviously).

**** me ragged that is poncy.

We went to a similar place in Hong Kong where you got to mix and match various options for the dishes. The missus chose some combo and the waiter sneered and said we don't do that one. They then served up pureed sea urchin as an amuse bouche. Wankers.

Still, despite the wankery, I like eating in poncy restos.

I was still at uni and went there with some posh American bird I was 'dating' and her parents. I can't remember much or who was there because we'd drank a couple of those big bottles of Champagne plus a few martinis before the first course came. It was like 11 or something courses and after the meal the chef took back to look at the kitchen where I summarily fell into some kind of very large mixing bowl and got covered in flour, her parents were not impressed.

The OH is making pumpkin pie and we're going over to a friend's for dinner. Trouble is the OH wants to make the pie with an actual pumpkin rather than with the tinned stuff. I told her, "you'll be at it for hours" but she's having none of it.
