The Tax Man Cometh
#1
Bad Karma Girl here.....
Has anyone experienced this:-
I lived in ON for 10 months of 2007, I moved to NS for the last 2. When I did my tax return I was told that I had to pay the NS rate of tax for the whole year which is higher than the ON rate of tax so I wasn't deducted at source sufficiently and have been stung for a rather hefty sum. I can't help thinking it's a dumbass unfair system.....

Maybe, but trying to keep track of which province each taxpayer lived in at each point in a year would be an administrative nightmare. So things are simplified and you pay tax to the province you lived in on December 31st.
It's swings and roundabouts really. If you moved to Alberta or BC you would be in for a refund.
