I suspect you're right.

I really missed my swiss army knife
This is an alternative to a bigger multitool knife. I've used it lots of times since it's been on my car keyring, and because it looks like a key nobody ever notices it.
http://www.townautoparts.com/SwissTe...B0001EFSTI.htm You can buy them in stores, and I think they were around $6 when mine was given to me.

seems like a backward place. What is next, getting charged with having cleaning products cause you might try and poison someone?

It's changed in the last 15 years.

Most kids I knew carried a pen knife around with them.

I have a swiss army knife that my parents gave me when I first went to guide camp (about 30 odd years ago)... it has always been on my key-ring along with my keys and I have never had a problem with it (I do remove it when flying but that is about it)....

Mine still has the toothpick and tweezers....

I too carried a mini swiss army knife with me when younger. Had it with me at school, when in town, church, you know, places you usually go. never a problem, then again, I wasn't showing off and brandishing it around.

These days I think it's asking for trouble carrying one (in the UK), no doubt some little oik would take it off you and stab you, or you'd try and use it to defend yourself from another oik and you'd end up being arrested.

I also carried a mini swiss army knife on my key ring for a few years, I had to hand it over at easy jet check in as stupidly I forgot to take it off and leave it at home when I was rushing to get a flight. They did attempt to post it back to me, but it got nicked in the post...at least they tried.
I used it for the nail file mainly

Possibly, you may find that the 'disabled caravanner' gave the wrong answer when asked 'Would you use this knife in self defence if you were attacked?'
'of course officer' means he is in possession of an offensive weapon, and the officer and force have one more Recordable Offence solved, helps with the stats! sad but true, but who knows, believe the media at your peril.....................maybe he managed to plea bargain the weapons of mass destruction in his cold box.
