Re: Summer Holidays
Two weeks coming up soon. Mostly staycation. We'll go up to see the boy in Chicoutimi for a couple of days and take the scenic route back down the fjord, probably with a stopover in Quebec City. The rest will be local tourism. We've been here for nine years and there is still a lot of stuff we haven't seen yet.
That will be followed by trips to the UK, Quebec City and New York (at least for me). All plans are provisional and subject to when my SIL carks. |
Re: Summer Holidays
I'm heading to Kingston for a few days on my own to recover from the inevitable nervous breakdown this latest conference will cause me.
Then Labour Day weekend Ben and I are hoping to go to Martha's Vineyard or somewhere in that vicinity |
Re: Summer Holidays
I don't don't go on holiday here as there's bugger worth seeing as it all looks the same. HID had pissed off somewhere for a few weeks to see another shrewdness of relatives I have no intention of ever meeting. Any time off will be spent filling my freezer while slowly fattening my liver.

Could someone, Millie?, DandH? who actually speaks french, comment on the Apple translators guess, "Une astuce de parents".
Obviously parents is not quite right. But "une astuce"? |
Re: Summer Holidays
I don't get to go on holidays as I am on disability recovering from a repair to my rotator cuff for 12 weeks, (half done now). Luckily all parties agreed I could go recover flyfishing in the Okanagan so long as I don't hurt myself. My physiotherapist said if I can learn to cast with my left arm I'm good to go but I have to be careful climbing up and down the rocks. Because she is beautiful I will do anything to please her making my treatment more effective. This is my 5th operation in 4 years and I believe the most enjoyable recovery period so far. It still hurts, but because I've been quite sore the last few nights I treated myself to 300 mg of Tramadol Hydrachloride and that smooths out a few bumps. It's possibly as close to being on holidays while being on disability that one could be and I deserve every stitch of it. :)

Who, what, where etc?
Couple more weeks at work for me, then off to the UK for 2 weeks. We're going to be terribly middle-clarse this year and have rented an old cottage in a fishing village in Cornwall. Fresh crab sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer, hurrah! We're just completing our summer hols...currently in a hotel @ LHR before flying back tomorrow. Three and a half weeks variously in Norfolk, Staffs, Kent & London. Bloody cold the first week but glorious weather since then. I had a week working in London whilst the wife and kids did the tourist thing. That worked surprisingly well. The big hit of the holiday though was undoubtedly Bressingham & in particular the Galloper! |

Alberta and Idaho and Montana, in various combinations and durations, due to having two separate families coming from the UK and staying with us back to back through the whole of August. Should be fun, fattening, alcoholic and expensive.
Returning to work in September will feel like a rest. |

On the last night of our road trip with visiting parents through BC, down to Spokane, then back through Coeur D'Alene, Kalispell, Waterton and home. All I can say is thank goodness for hotel swimming pools to wear out the kids every night after a few long drives! The folks thought Spokane was a bit rough and my Dad cried when he saw the scenery on the Going to the Sun Road. Didn't get nearly enough time to hit the US shops towards the end though :(
It was wonderful ... two weeks of heavenly weather and scenery. J :) |
