Summer ... "bring it on"
#1
So, to quote the Canadian Tire ad what are you going to do this summer to "bring it on" and enjoy all of that "Canadian awesomeness" (am I mixing up ads? ah well, whatever)? Today was such a fab day in Toronto I've been thinking about the next few months ahead and how to make the most of it ...
So far, definitely: lots of outdoor footie (I play in a pick-up game on Weds; let me know if you want to come for a game); sort my bike out and ride everywhere; and try to get to Muskoka at least once ...

Spent last summer house hunting so didn't do a great deal other than drive around looking at places. This year I intend to finally get around to seeing more bits of BC.

I'd really like to do the Canadian thing and build a new deck! .... wonder if it will happen this summer ...

we'll be camping and fishing, then the family Xmas party is at our place this year (end of July!), youngest daughter coming out from the UK, we'll be finishing the basement, going to a couple of family weddings and generally having a pretty darn awesome time of it

We're getting some laying hen chicks in June so that's probably going to restrict us a bit to just day trips, family visits, local activities etc.
I'm looking forward to staying home tbh; we're currently trying to arrange a "double summer" to make up for the [lack of the] last one... I'm looking forward to working on some landscaping projects around the yard, building the chicken coop, working on the vegetable patch etc.
I also have half-a-plan to either prototype or build a solar array that will drive a low voltage lighting circuit in the house (with the idea that it can be expanded to run the well pump and furnace too) as well as charge batteries to run the same stuff when the power goes out. I had an idea the other day, which I don't want to lose momentum on, which is to build a solar array that not only automatically tracks the sun but can also move the panels into self-protection position when the weather is really bad.
Fishing, long hikes with the dog and shooting the empties are high up on the agenda too.

Family Xmas party? I like the sound of the fishing and camping. Quality. Have a good one!

Same as usual - lots of pool time, bbqs with friends, beach, local events/festivals. Also doing the Cabot trail in up Cape Breton and planning to head down to Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove. I always go down to the Halifax harbourfront too because I love the vibe. Might be going to PEI with 2 of my residents for a few days.
Decided to skip the summer vacation this year because let's face it, when you live in a country that has great summers you don't need to head south for a week or two to seek out sunshine. Heading to New Hampshire in the fall instead (even though the colours here in NS is spectacular too).
Love Bring it on
