Eva Cassidy - Over the Rainbow. It was played at my dad's funeral. Beautiful song but sets me off whenever I hear it.

[QUOTE=Jingsamichty;9296657]No doubt we all read about Nick Clegg - the big jessie! - having a good old cry to himself to music because everybody hates him and he just wants to be loved... The Grauniad put this piece together about the songs that make them cry (and some weird choices there are in there!)
So come on.. what song gets you, every time?
For me, it's got to be This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren. (But I don't actually cry. Maybe just a very manly sniff.
)
Can't say it made me cry, but listening to Rod Stewart singing:
I am sailing, I am sailing,
Home again, cross the sea
I am sailing stormy waters
To be near you (England), to be free.
certainly got me choked up as I sailed out of N.Y. on the QEII for the first visit to England in 20 years.
Hope to be doing the same again soon, this time forever.

Pachelbel's canon in D major. Hundreds of years old and still copied/nicked.
I cannot listen to it without welling-up. It will be played at my funeral.

Mike and Mechanics - The Living Years
For the complete and utter loss when you run out of precious time with your parents.
Started meself off now.

Linger - The Cranberries (memories of being dumped and spending weeks in floods of tears)
God Blessed this broken road - Rascal Flatts (makes me cry because I realise how lucky I am now
)
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica (The guitar solo as someone said earlier makes my skin tingle and get watery eyes!)
For those that don't really like metal - do listen to the Metallica one - it really is beautiful.

Isn't that a Tammy Wynette song?
