- Moving to Canada will quite likely lead to a higher cost of travel to visit family and friends in the UK. This should not be a shock to people.
- Food is often made differently and quite often tastes differently in Canada when compared to the UK. Deal with it.
- Canada has crime too. Suck it up.
- BEWARE: Dreams are often different from reality.
- The cost of car insurance differs from country to country. So what. Deal with it.
- Banking in Canada is not as user friendly as the UK. So what. Get used to it.
- You CAN live without TV
- Be aware of the amenities available when moving to your utopian rural home. You're adults. What do you expect to have when moving into the middle of nowhere.
- Leaving your support network behind in the UK may be harder than you think. You're an adult, you should realise this.
- Uprooting and moving to Canada, leaving friends, family, and support network for "the kids" is a risky move. Parents, be honest with your reason and research your move to Canada with your eyes open
- North American chocolate mostly tastes of what i imagine baby sick would. If European chocolate is that important to you fatties, don't move.
- Think before you type*
- Do lots of your own research and READ THE WIKI. Especially before asking stupid questions.
- The UK isn't as bad as you think

I posted this about three years ago....
"1. Most likely your incredibly sophisticated mobile phone won't work here. Live with it.
2. None of your electrical appliances (battery operated appliances such as dildos excepted) are worth bringing with you.
3. If you have no initiative to use in finding a job first, forget the whole idea.
4. Canada is a big place. This has several implications.
5. Schools are not a reason to decide where to live (with very minor exceptions).
6. Some folk prefer Alberta, some others prefer Nova Scotia, BC, Ontario, Quebec, etc. This is totally irrelevant. (But if someone suggests Nunavit, they are probably taking the piss). Their opinion is dependent on where they actually are, not on knowledge of anywhere else in Canada. And here I plagiarize a former poster called iainK, "A happy ex-pat is one who enjoys their job...." corollary obvious. ( I hope).
7. If you're mad enough to eat marmite it's your funeral.
8. An important one here. Canada is a multicultural society. Please do not expect that, just because you come from the former colonial power, you have any special status here. You don't.
9. Trucker's wages are just awful here as they are in most other countries. You're a trucker, what did you expect?
10. Don't mess with dbd33: you won't win."
Plus ca change.

Diversity is what makes the World interesting.
Regarding the WIKI in general, I would not regard this as the latest authority. Anyone can post anything.
But, regarding chocolate and the porkies, this is a good point also. They are pushing up the cost of air travel. I have long suggested that people should be weighed with their baggage. When I get charged extra for my odd bottle of rum from Cuba, this makes my blood boil. Glad you spoke out.

Yes.
That post, as noted, is three years old. Iaink flounced around that time but re-appeared as Notiainkhonest after a month or two.
Eventually he readopted his original moniker and the rest is history.
He was elevated to moderator a while ago and is now next in line for beatification.
