So - What did you do on Canada Day, eh?

For my part, I rode in the British Cyclosportive. 120 miles of cycling from Greenwhich to Canterbury, tracking the route to be followed by the riders in Stage 2 of the Tour de France on 8th July.
To mark Canada Day, I wore my "Team Canada" Maple leaf cycle jersey.
So what did you do?

I took Nate for his last UK footie presentation - spent the afternoon in floods of tears as he won a Special Manager's Merit award

Rose early to hit Home Depot, only to discover that all the major shops in Quebec were shut. Hauled it down to the one in Ottawa instead. The built (twice) a bit of IKEA furniture while she sanded the plaster on the hallway ceiling prior to painting. The afternoon was spent stripping an oak dresser.
Today will be spent cleaning a fine layer of plaster dust off every surface in the house.

I went shopping, what a thrill that was after 2yrs in Manitoba where they shut at the drop of a hat.

Continued sorting "stuff" - garage and loft
Also bagged up lots of 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins that have accumulated - believe it or not there were £25 worth!
Next year I am having a "fun" Canada Day

Went to the Nickelback concert in Halifax. What a longggggg day. Left NG at 9.45am and caught the 11.30am ferry from Dartmouth to Halifax, then had lunch down by the harbourfront.
Around 1pm we headed up to the Citadel and saw the Military tattoo parade enroute. Joined 1000s of other concert goers in the queue which snaked all the way up to the Citadel, then around and down again. Took about 1 hour to get in :curse:. Had to throw away bottle tops off plastic bottles of water, only to step past the security to be sold bottles of water with tops on
Was told I couldn't take in my chubby brolly but the girl relented when I moaned cos it had been raining (ever so slightly) and I of course was a tourist
.
Weather nice and we sat at the back on the hill. 25,000 people attended. Concert began at 2.30pm and Nickelback wasn't on til 10pm!!!!!!! The crowds had to wait around 45 minutes between each band (6) :curse: If we had known that we wouldn't have gone as we were now pretty damned cold. Temps dropped dramatically when the sun went down. Even our kids didn't want to stay. Our backsides were also aching with sitting all day on the steep slope.
Left the concert a bit early and saw the Halifax fireworks. Caught the ferry back to Dartmouth and drove back home getting in around 1am.
Oh god, old age is certainly catching with me now (44 tomorrow)

Gonna spend much of today watching the tribute to Diana concert on TV

I spent 3hrs driving a 1hr journey from Camberley to Gatwick.
I then spent a further 3hrs stuck in a check in queue.
I then spent 10hrs in the sky.
I then landed in Vancouver and the clocks went back 8hrs so all in all I had 32hr Canada day.

Moved into new apartment, screwed together a never-ending mound of Ikea flat packs, watched the fab fireworks over Victoria harbour!

Went to a small local evening concert in Cochrane, cooked under the fabulously clear sky and very hot sunshine and watched, among others, Aaron Lines (?) who did a great introductory repetoire for us novices of 'country' music - telling the full stereotypical stories and tributes to loved ones, broken relationships, 'mom', trucks and dead dogs (ok, maybe I made the dead dogs bit up) - it was great !!!
He's kinda cute too.
