I cant imagine what the poor parents of Kaylee Wallace must be going through. My heart goes out to them.

I dont really see though why this is happening under the glare of the media, should it not be a private matter for the families concerned?

Ironic that you say it should be a private matter yet it gets posted by you on a public forum

Yes it is sad.

Perhaps, but somehow I doubt we will be interviewing them any time soon, so I doubt very much this is adding to their burden.

I guess I just wanted to share my sympathy and comment on what was the lead story on the national news here with those in the motherland, who no doubt are getting lead stories about important stuff like terrorism and economic doom.

I have only heard of the case through this thread. I'll try not to glare at it.

I wonder what Michael Parkinson would have to say about it?

I thought I was being publicised to help make the transplant happen because as the law stands they wouldn't of been able to remove the organs quick enough for them to be useful.

She was the Chav of all our hearts.......

Back on topic, I think a number of posters should wind their necks in, as Iain says, this story has been headline news on CBC for a couple of days and is an incredibly sad one. But headline news material? I think not.

That's why I don't bother with the local news.

Agreed. It took up at least 8 minutes at the top of the CTV 11pm news last night. It may have run longer - I switched over. It's really not lead-item material. Sure, a human interest story. Sure, a tale ful of tragedy, of hopes lost, regained and dashed again on all sides, of complex ethical dilemmas and conflicting points of view. It helps that the father of the brain-damaged child is articulate and eloquent, even in the midst of the emotional turmoil he must be suffering at the moment.

But pushing all other news off a "national and international" broadcast until the first ad break? No, really not.
