I was there last Autumn and it has the same charm that it always had. It's a lot better than that new ASBO Walk.

The same argument could probably be said towards some military equipment before Iraq and Afghanistan were invaded. :p

So if the US were to 'liberate' Canada to get the Fort Mc oilsands, we'd let them do it without defending ourselves?

I doubt it. :p

Not all of it would need to be purchased. In my neck of the woods, a lot of snow removal is contracted-out to guys with heavy equipment that wouldn't otherwise be used in winter (landscapers, construction companies etc).

The grader that ploughs my street does not have the city logo on it.

Around here too the farmers get roped in by the town to clear the gravel roads with their tractors.

Tractors get used in Maidstone too. To ram the building societys and banks. I think 7 were done in the last 12 months.

Well we have more snow today in London. Just had my second Christmas dinner (lunch for the posh people) with the back drop of the white stuff.

There's about 0.03mm on the ground so i'm heading out to put some snow tyres on as the Merc is rear wheel drive with traction control so will be a death trap in these condition.

Very exciting.

Ah ha! A revelation. There has been some debate concerning the fate of my tractor should I return to live in civilization. Frankly, I've been trying to think of an excuse for keeping it while living in an urban location. Sorted; I'll rob some minor banks.

The idea's promising but needs refinement. I'd like to haul away a cash machine but I don't want to leave the machine at the scene. Perhaps the tractor could be souped up to serve as both a weapon of bank destruction and a getaway vehicle.

So, I'll rob a bank in St. Jacob's and be the fastest machine in town. The only snag being that St. Jacob's aint that urban, it'd take days to get back down the 401.

You better batten down the hatches....this sounds absolutely awful weather
:sneaky: From the UK met....

Heavy snow for parts of England tonight.

As of 1430 Thursday one or two centimetres of snow have been reported across the Midlands and east of England as well as parts of the south and east Scotland and there are reports of several cm of snow over some of the hills. Tonight the heaviest snow is likely to be over the E and SE of England. Issued at 1446 on Thu 17 Dec 2009.

I've had snow tyres fitted to the car and loaded the boot with 4 bags of sand, blankets, spare warm clothes, and a flask of soup.....just in case.

We don't have any hatches to batten down.

Pray for us, we're going to need it.

There's still some remnants of snow on the roof of the apartments next door so i'm staying at home............just in case

Driving last night was treacherous too. Accelerating from the lights, the traction control kicked in for a split second requiring me to contemplate evasive manoeuvres but we made it without serious injury.

I've mail ordered some tyre chains in anticipation of a further 0.2mm of snow fall over the coming months.

Now i know how Captain Robert Scott felt.

Just a thought. How so roofs with solar panels cope when covered with snow? :p:p

We have solar christmas lights and they don't work when the solar panels are covered in snow. Would have thought the same would apply to roof solar panels.
