Snack food
I'm sure that you all indulge one time or another in one of those high calorie salt or sugar fixes. So, do you have one - ranging from crisps/potato chips, to that favourite choclate bar or sweet toffee/candy?
Over on the 'Middle East' forum, someone posted the '35 KitKat varities from around the globe', which I had never thought of or seen in my travels Anyone? https://www.buzzfeed.com/lydiah/35-k...the-world-18d7 I have always been the Mars Bar & plain crisps person, with both of them eaten together at the same time. |

Re: Snack food
I don't believe all those KitKats but I like the idea of the Tiramisu one.
I prefer dark choc to milk but dark KitKats don't do it for me. Nor the mint ones, which is surprising coz I like mint choc and coffee, like Aero. Sour Cream and Onion Pringles definitely do it for me, and they're nice in a sandwich too. Dry Roasted Nuts go supremely well with a whisky & 7up. Cadburys Fruit and Nut. My second fave Pringles https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon....SR258,320_.jpg |
Re: Snack food
Dark chocolate ginger chocolates from Purdy's in Vancouver ........... I have to restrict myself to 2 after dinner (or 3 if they are smaller than usual)
Pringles Original Mini multigrain Tortilla chips |
Re: Snack food
My thing is putting peri peri sauce on everything.
Birds custard and sticky toffee or treacle pud from our local store is yum. |
Re: Snack food
I tried the cookies and cream kitkat today. It was expensive and didn't taste too much different from a normal one -
I love me some chips&dip, or Twistees If you put a plate of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar I won't stop eating it  |

Re: Snack food
A bit of this and a bit of that, with a preference for simple tastes, not gimmicks, and plain/dark chocolate over milk chocolate on almost every occasion. Sometimes salty, sometimes sweet, but never mixed - so no chocolate-dipped pretzels or caramel popcorn for me.
My preference is for McVities biscuits - plain chocolate Homewheat (digestives) and Hobnobs, but that might be due to me previously working for them - that loyalty didn't carry over to KP crisps, because M&S crisps are better and are (were?) made by KP too. |
Re: Snack food
My treat treat is a double decker. Not really a slacker though, I just don't buy junk foods. OH will fill the trolley if we're shopping together though. I just go past those aisles.

Cheetos.

Re: Snack food
I like bananas. For the record, Canadian brewer beers are dreadful. Tried two diffent beers on my first evening here, haven't had alcohol since. AA TAKE NOTE, give them Canadian beer and they will be in remission.
Oh I didn't drink more than a third from either glass. Yuk. |

Re: Snack food
Definitely a Tunnocks Teacake for me which I can only find in Walmart. They're not too bad if you only have one. And as I don't shop at Walmart, I can usually make the box of 6 last a while. Or, homemade chocolate mug cake, cooked in 1 minute, is a must if we have nothing else chocolatey in the house ;)

My own preference was always for what North Americans call 'warm' beer. Bitters, ales whatever you want to call them. I didn't really have brewery preferences, most pints of bitters were okay. Directors was nice as were Ruddles, Newcastle Brown, Samuel Smith (not John) Wadworths 6X, Owd Roger, Boddington, Marston, Theakston, Tanglefoot, Royal Oak, etc etc But on a hot summer's day there was always room for something cold when lager - or Eurofizz as we called it - would do the job instead. Even if it was Fosters or Labatt's which was hardly European. I remember not being overly keen on Carling or another one I can't remember but we used to replace the last part of its name with 'dust'. I was never keen on Harp either and that was only drinkable with a dash of Lime. But really, Fosters, Heineken, Holsten, Stella (reassuringly expensive;), Skol, Viking, Carlsberg, Kronenbourg were all pretty much acceptable. North American beers - Coors, Bud, Labbat, Moosehead, Molson etc to me are just more much of a muchness in the same way. They're beery and on a hot day they're cold and that's what you want.:unsure::nod: |

Oh I didn't drink more than a third from either glass. Yuk. Definitely need to swish down the hi-cal, salt, grease and/or chocolate with something  . |

Oh I didn't drink more than a third from either glass. Yuk. Canada actually has some incredible craft breweries - and a lot of them. In fact, in the last 2 years about 8 craft breweries have opened in Calgary alone, with another 4-5 slated to open in the next 6 months. If you like real beer, you're in the right place. If you like Carlsberg and Fosters, then reconsider your life choices. |

Craft beer elitism is just another example of the coastal middle class liberal imposition of cultural hegemony on North American society. It’s precisely this type of condescension that has led the precariat to see Donald Trump as their savor. If he wins in November, it'll mainly be the fault of craft beer drinkers. I say to the people of this continent, put down the warm, brown and sticky goop and open a bottle of ice-cold, yellow and fizzy nectar. |

If, however, one likes good beer, there are plenty of craft options here. I like pilsener-style (Urquell etc). The best I have ever tasted, by far, was from a microbrewery on the Ile d'Orleans (an island in the St. Lawrence near Quebec City). Very little of it gets shipped elsewhere. I'm not surprised. The locals are keeping the good stuff for themselves! |
Re: Snack food
I had a green tea kitkat a while back. It was not good. I do like the orange ones though. Another vote for paprika Pringles, but haven't actually seen them in years. Recently developed a fondness for a snack called kheeta matta (or something like that) from the imported snacks section.

Re: Snack food
I really don't like Pringles, they don't seem like 'proper' crisps, I'm quite partial to a Lays Salt & Vinegar...especially in a sandwich. Roast chicken is good too.
The BBQ & ketchup/fully dressed are most horrid:thumbs_down: I'm a dark chocolate woman, and used to love a Terry's Waifa (?) which was like a dark Kit Kat. |

Re: Snack food
I've recently discovered Mango Lime Salsa, with Tostitos White Corn Scoops. Boy but is it a good snack? The salsa can be homemade or Presidents Choice have it in a jar.

Re: Snack food
Crisps are quite a weak point, hence a general ban over the last year or so. Ditto M&Ms. Lately its been pistachio's, but fortunately, they are easier to moderate.

Re: Snack food
Digestives are up there, I can polish a pack off with a cup of coffee. Snacking on random blocks of cheddar is known to happen. Speaking of cheese, I love those big tubs of Cheeselets you get at Christmas!
Oh and Brannigans, love those crisps. http://www.cinemasnacks.co.uk/images/552500.jpg The list of my favourite snacks could go on forever to be fair :) |

Considering that labatts is actually a belgo-brazillian brewer, Coors is half american, and sleemans is Japanese i wonder whether Yorkie has had a canadian beer. On the other hand as Coors Banquet is one of the better pisswater lagers, maybe it's just a taste thing. |

We have a couple British stores so I can usually get my fix of Walkers Cheese & Onion, Galaxy Minstrels and Bitter Lemon ! |
