Re: Smart TV - would you?
Ok everybody, as you were.
Went to Best Buy to get decent HD tv and Playstation. Came out with a nice Samsung TV with $100 off and a Sony Internet Player with Google TV NSZ-GS7 with $30 off. The guy in the shop was very knowledgeable and we were really impressed with this gadget. I just know someone is going to come along and burst my bubble now though :sneaky: IT'S DONE.....no more tech talk! Yip! :p |
Re: Smart TV - would you?
Well done! Does this mean we won't see you around so much as you'll be too busy watching HD movies or that we won't be able to get rid of you :) because you now have the ability to post from your TV ?!! Thanks for updating and enjoy.

Does a similar thing to the Raspberry Pi which is only £35 to buy.
The Pi/TV is controlled with my mobile phone (android or Apple app) across the home WLAN. As long as you have a spare HDMI socket on your TV, you can achieve all your 'Smart' tv needs with a Pi and a little knowhow (all available via google) and £40. |

I use a Raspberry Pi running XBMC and stream from my Synology NAS all my TV programs/films. All my TV shows/Films are downloaded direct (mostly automatically) to my NAS whilst I am at work.

It's similar to having an apple TV, you have to be somewhat tech savvy and know what you are doing to configure / setup
http://www.scoop.it/t/raspberry-pi/p...c-media-center I have a Raspberry Pi and Its a great piece of kit and i prefer it to my apple tv BUT i wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is a technophobe (as the OP states she is) |
Re: Smart TV - would you?
Not a technophobe, but have paid scant attention to the TV add on devices as not much of a TV guy either. Looked at the Sony black box video posted above, so is that all you need to be able to browse the Internet / YouTube from the TV? Is the Pi the same sort of thing?
