A small weather related rant!
Yes, I know it's Canada, and I know I moved to the Maritimes all on my own, and I wasn't brought here under force.....but won't it EVER stop bloody raining. It's just sodding bucketing down, it's been going without let or hindrance for days, and more and yet more is forecast!
Don't tell me let me guess....it's not a'raining up Richmond Hill! Can I come and stay with someone where it's dry please?:( |
Re: A small weather related rant!
It rains quite a bit on coastal BC, too, where we live. It did take some getting used to after we moved here from Alberta which is a lot colder and drier in winter and doesn't get many rainy days even in summer. We just scheduled all kinds of indoor things to do when it was really wet, such as playing musical instruments, sorting out books and CDs, or cleaning out the garage. I think the lack of sun is what makes it so depressing. You need sun for your skin to manufacture vitamin D. Lack of this vitamin does cause depression so do keep up taking supplements.
Apart from indoor stuff, we simply got some long backpacker capes and explorer sandals and went out on the beach anyway. I understand how miserable it can be when the rain seems unending but you do get used to it after a while and just get on with your life. At least you have a good excuse not to do any gardening when the rain is bucketing down. Billy Connolly's "Wellie Song" might cheer you up a bit. Best wishes. |
Re: A small weather related rant!
But don't you like sitting in the warm, coffee in hand, gazing out at it?:)

Who'd have thought the weather would be a bit rubbish in Canada?

It's usually rainy in May. That's what tops up our pool and fills our well to see us through the summer. Plus the grass is more green throughout the summer months.
My Scottish friends on Facebook are saying its a fab day because its sunny - but it's 13C. Here it's 23C! |
Re: A small weather related rant!
Don't worry, it'll stop raining soon. The sun will come out and it will warm up. Then the blackflies appear...;)

Re: A small weather related rant!
Over the last couple of weeks, I've driven through (in order) NS, NB, ME, NH, MA, CT, NY (the state not the city) then CT, MA, VT, NH, ME, NB, NS.
The weather was great for all of the 3,500kms of the road trip, except in NB and ME where it was either foggy, rainy or both. Even the weather on top of Mount Washington (home of the "world's worst weather") was better than the weather in NB  |

We've got 50 mls over the weekend! Sort of knowing that the weather in Canada can be a bit rubbish is one thing, but the physical act of sitting here whilst it's comming down like stair rods is giving me the pip, and it's cold too 6 degrees presently. Thank you for your kind responses, those of you in sunnier climes....thank your lucky stars...or alternatively, your better judgement in choosing your location:huh: |
Re: A small weather related rant!
24 degrees and sunny here in Newfoundland. We could actually do with some rain - been a very dry spring here so far! Those of us with wells, starting to worry.
