Re: Small island speech
To me, it was the correct response to the question that was asked at a press conference. It would have been tempting to respond by listing some of Russia's many failings, but he sensibly stuck to listing positive attributes of Britain.

"Cleared the continent of facism."
I'm not surprised the Russians were upset, heard of Stalingrad?

Re: Small island speech
Putin was right - Dave just lowered himself to Putins level - then again what would Cameron the wealthy private school boy know about small mindedness

Re: Small island speech
Well, by most account he didn't lower himself to Putin's level, as refrained to take any cheap shots at Russia. Instead, he offered a fairly upbeat and positive depiction of British capability.

Re: Small island speech
Cameron like most folks look at 'what we did' and cannot deal with or fix the current issues that effect the country
And it doesn't matter which government is in power - the problems will only get worse & with each revolving door ... guess what!
More British ex-pats have left than are returning.. go figure

Re: Small island speech
Anyway, as of today, can one lower oneself to Putin's level? He's made Kerry and Obama look like amateurs.

Re: Small island speech
Any Russian attempt to claim credit for clearing the continent of facism is surely mitigated by the Non-Aggression Pact they signed with Hitler in 1939, which freed up Nazi Germany to spread facism to much of Europe. The subsequent Soviet involvement in the war was also nothing to do with ending facism; they were defending themselves from the German invasion.
