Default Is a small bit of showing off allowed?

I didn't come 'for the children', but we did think our son might do well here, he wasn't thriving in France, and was bullied and lacked confidence.

We arrived last August, he joined Air Cadets in January when he turned 12 and this afternoon was awarded The Best First Year Cadet award. My pride is bursting, I don't want to win the lottery - I just did!

The Cadets isn't for every kid, and I didn't frankly think it would be for mine, but he's loved it, and his confidence has grown enormously. I just had to 'tell' someone, and my husband is away as usual!

I have two questions.

1) How many First Year Cadets are there in Fredericton, more than one?

and

2) You know he's going to want an airplane for his next birthday don't you?

<it's fine to brag, I'm proud of my sons as well>

That's a really uplifting story, Millie. We parents all want our kids to be happy, and it's upsetting when we think they aren't. To see it turn around like this must be better than Christmas! Well done to your son (and you of course!) I'll bet he's chuffed!

Thank you so much for your kind responses. Novo, he's going to get an airplane really, as I'm finishing my private pilots licence this year, here, because I started it in France, and my husband's building one. I don't know how many first year cadets there are,as this is out of 333 Lord Beaverbrook Squadron, and it also covers Oromocto and Gagetown, but there were quite à number I think this year. it just basically meant that my kid did, really quite good, out of a group of people who voted for him, and they think he was great, and beyond that I couldn't care. Watching his confidence grow as been magic. He was a good flute player when we came and then went and did well, and now he's just happy and confident and that's just priceless.

You just wait til, your fantastic best first cadet gets made up to Warrant Officer 1st Class and is known as Chief - thats also a fab feeling, the cadet programme is brilliant, you will see your sons confidence grow and grow.

Congratulations
