Ive been attacked by carnivorous seagulls in llandudno would you believe. I was holding a chip from a fish and chip paper and one just tried to take it by skimming my shoulder, flapping in my face! I resisted, shoukd have grabbed the buxxer by the beak and slapped it about a bit, but there were about a dozen of them.
I decided to throw the remainder in a bin which resulted in an aerial feeding frenzy. There are signs saying they are a dangerous nuisance, i believe it...

I vaguely recall a car park somewhere with a particular problem with the news reports referring to a parking attendant often being attacked.

Segulls are unpleasent birds and not scared to steal food right from your hand if they think they can get away with it.
They also seem to do very well living at landfills.

How come the hotel didn't have bug screens on the windows? Is it too posh for that? Now I come to think of it I can't recall if hotels do anyway.
