From: now living with family until TWP arrives!!!

what should we do now?
we have interview june and not sure what to do with house here. we have had no one and unlikely to sell now to normal buyers! we could sell to home buyer company for an ok price i suppose and have no ties in uk, or should we rent it out and have lot less money and hassle of a house here!!!!
please help us decide

Like everyone else says its a buyers market now you just need to hang on in there. We have been patiently waiting since Novemeber (understatement) and there are others alot worse than me on BE.
Someone will buy eventually.

And for those that say you might not like it in Canada so leave a way back, I think you are much less likely to "succeed" in a permanent move if you come with the expectation that it might fail ....... but then I'm a great one for burning bridges!!

What's the name of the company you are considering selling to? Might consider this as an option myself... How far below Market value do they offer?

Generally 80% of market value. The question is who says what the market value is...you, or them?

Beware ... most also charge you mucho pesetos to even value the house, so if they make a laughable offer you can't tell them where to put it without ending up substantially out of pocket!!! :curse:

What do you expect them to do except charge for their time? They'll want to ultimately profit from the house too. It's a free market, after all.

Sometimes, it might be easier to let the house go for 20% less than you want from it. Ask estate agent to drop their price as well.
We had to let our house go for less than we wanted, But OH had job lined up over here and we was ready to come, so if you can afford to it saves on the stress.

We are renting. At first we thought sell up, but after many weeks of debating we decided that renting would be a better option for us. The reason being for us is that OH will be on a TWP so until we get PR nothing is certain.

So if for any reason Canada just does not work out then at least we would still have our home to come back to - even if it got trashed by tenants!!!

At the end of the day, it just depends on your circumstances - the decision has to be yours and NOT what other people would recommend you do!!
Anyway, good luck and best wishes with what ever you decide ?

Timing can have a big influence too - I sold in the UK for a healthy profit, when it was easy to find a buyer, and exchange rates were in my favour much more. I moved to a location where prices were comparatively low, so could get more for my money. Today things have changed - selling in the UK is more difficult and prices here have risen 50% in 3yrs. If I was moving here now on a TWP my decision might well be different.
