Sorry Transplantgirl, I missed your reply. Don't know why you can't PM - maybe your id isn't set up to do it?
Anyway - great to hear from you - you've obviously seen some changes in Stony being here for so long! I've only been here for 3 years - still a newbie.
I was in the library yesterday and picked up a couple of books too - but they didn't have that many - I'll have to order some in I think. From following up on a few of the links above, I think the Scrapbook Oasis place in Spruce (next to Smitty's on the 16a) runs courses.
I'm making my inaugral trip to Michaels on Friday (dragging son with me as it's a PD day), to pick up my first lot of supplies. Thanks to everyone's help here, I have a couple of ideas forming - keeping it simple to start off with.

Off to Michaels in an hour or so - just waiting till the carnage on the road calms down - honestly, one tiny, tiny shower of snow and the madness starts

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone
Well, got my supplies - including heat gun, ink pads and embossing powder! There's either going to be a right mess or a fire tonight...
Plus my 8 year old got an origami kit - I'm knee deep in paper dolphins and other sea creatures. When I say - knee deep - I mean knee deep in the paper - we haven't quite figured out how to make the actual animals yet!

**steps out of the closet** I am a scrapbooker.
I don't do it as much these days but I have been on one of those 'holidays' you mentioned (if you can call it that - mine was a short break lol).
Last year I went away on an organised scrapbooking retreat in Bristol for a weekend. About 80 of us stayed in a 4* hotel and there were optional organised classes. Women flocked to this event from all over the UK and beyond (Ireland, France and Holland too) Many of us brought our own wine because the hotel's was expensive and in the evening there were party games. He he, I think I had more treats and little bottles of wine in my trolley then scrapping supplies (it was like a mobile mini-bar with chocolates etc)
Scrapbooking is much bigger in the US and Canada so if the OP is looking for classes etc. she shouldn't have a problem.
