Re: Scents/perfumes in the work place.
I think if it is used in the right quantities its fine but a lot of people seem to bath in the stuff. Case in point I was in an elevator the other day and someone had bathed in aftershave and it made me feel like vomiting. Maybe mandatory lessons included with box sets of aftershave and perfume?

For years I have dabbed on eau du toilette or after shave and gone to work and received the odd compliment of how good I smell. I don't bathe in the stuff nor put on Brut, Hai Karate or Stetson brands
It has never been an issue until last year when I taught a class in an office in Calgary and as I was only there for 2 weeks it was brought to our attention. This morning I started a 4 week assignment in another office and dabbed on a bit of Armani. Later in the day it was brought to my attention of the Govts policy on a scent/perfume free work environment. I wonder if it would be rather insensitive of me to take peanut butter butties to work tomorrow:confused: That policy is a bit of a joke, I work with a govt agency and we have the same policy. Then, when the building needs fixing so the infrastructure bods come in and paint/fix things, stinking the place with paint and/or solvent fumes, the no smellies policy doesn't seem to get much attention. We just get told to live with it. |

Don't go to work particularly scented but usually come home sporting Eau de Silage.....wife isn't too keen on it though.
Don't know what all the fuss is about  (He's been a herdsman for decades. You'd probably need a belt sander to get the ingrained smell of cow shit off him.) |
Re: Scents/perfumes in the work place.
What about people that have really bad B.O. problems, are we allowed to complain about them. Should they be sent home to wash properly.
Or what about those people with mega stinky breath, in my old workplace one of the bosses must have had really bad gingivitis, or he ate shit sandwiches for lunch every day. When he used to come over and talk to me, I had to sit with my hand covering my nose, so I didn't breath in his fumes. "Death Breath" |

My kids school is a complete scent free, fish free and nut free environment. We have signs in all public offices here saying "No Scents is Good Sense". One wonders how the poor population of central London ever survives, when they all get herded onto the tube smelling of God knows what. |

They are smell Nazis here, it is true. At the OHs company, they have an especially bossy office manager who puts notices up all over the staff areas.
The most recent one outlawed popcorn, fish, and "odorous foods" in their kitchen area. :p I have been seriosly tempted to pack him a lunch of kipper scented popcorn. |

Is it right that workers should be dictated to about what they can have for lunch? That sort if censorship makes me a bit annoyed!:frown: |

It isn't that I like the smell of popcorn, it is just that the smell isn't all that bad.
