Satanists in prisons

Canada is adding to the list of cults that prisoners can pretend to believe in to avoid a shivving over a box of snout.

Witches, or "wicca" as the pretentious hipster wackos want to call themselves, are being recruited to look after the spiritual needs of the obviously trolling inmates.

I suppose it's only fair, but taxes.

Wicca's are Pagans not witches and neither are they satanists. Paganism traces it's roots to pre-christian times.

The original job ad specified "Suitable candidates will be assessed by way of weight comparison with a duck."

Isn't there a risk of a prisoner absconding if he or she is allowed a flying broomstick?

The woman has a temple with a green cauldron in it. Green, pink, black, who cares about the colour? Anyone with a temple and a cauldron is a witch in my book.

No reason why Wiccans should not be able to follow their own faith in prison, any more than any other believer.
However please don't compare us to Satanists, we are worlds apart.

I said Paganism goes back to pre-christian times, not Wicca.

define Pagan...........

Because in the current 20th century use of the word, virtually none of the so called pagan religions have any connection to the original Celtic and Nordic origins other than stealing the symbology
The only religions than might be linked back and could possibly be called pagan are one in Iceland and one in Latvia, neither are in use outside of their respective countries..

You can make it look old, but that doesn’t make it old

From my understanding all the so called pagan religions we see around today almost all have their roots in 18th to 19th century Romanticism

So what? Doesn't make it any less valid than any other religion.

Personally I think we should either fund chaplains for all religions (they're all nuts to various degrees) or none.

I think providing Jedi Masters to train prisoners could be quite dangerous.

I was calling BS on its claim on going back to pre-Christian times..

As to validity of any religion, IMHO if you’re ready to believe in something without any evidence, or evidence that with little research is fabricated then that’s a choice, a poor choice but still your choice

Have you seen the types of people that claim to be Jedi masters....

Spotty Herbert’s, living in their parents basement, with plastic light sabers, and 6" high action figures

Last time one of those types got involved in religious teaching it ended up recruiting Tom Cruise
