The first syllable is pronounced "Shashk" and should be made with a whistling noise between your teeth.

I pronounce that last bit 'win'... sas-CAT-choo-win. I'm Canadian from the west coast.

I've only been here 7 months so still say wan, but it seems to depend on age or whether you were born in Saskatchewan - most of the people I've met say Saskatchew-on.
