Here in Ottawa, they are only permitted in the former City of Vanier. It is a rule that is not enforced a great deal.
Yup. A fair few houses in the neighbourhood have them, although we are the first on our street. I have already seen the benefit. That little bout of freezing crap the other morning left my neighbours scraping for quite some time. My missus left via the attached garage, into the carport, straight into the car and drove off. I'm sure you can imagine who would have been on scraping detail.

Money well-spent, in my opinion.
