Russia to Host 2018 Football World Cup
And I thought that the distances between stadiums in South Africa was big !!!!!
Qatar are hosts for the 2022 World Cup.......... I bet a few quid had to exchange hands for that one !!!!

Apparently England came 4th in the 1st round and therefore didn't continue for voting consideration. I wonder if the Panorama show was a clincher.
The amount of toadying going on this week by the England bid team to the FIFA crooks was rather disturbing.
Good luck to Russia and Qatar (who are going to build 9 new stadiums and then tear them down and rebuild them afterwards in 3rd World countries).....lets hope in Qatar that the AC is on maximum in the stadiums.

At the risk of pre-empting the Mail/Sun - FIFA have probably taken a backhander and messed it all up again.

Got at least as much chance as England anyway... and its the only way Canada will qualify to play in the Finals.We could rebuild the stadiums in the US, it will probably be close to a 3rd world state by then!

Maybe Canada can bid in future... small population, no interest in soccer, totally the wrong climate for it... Sounds like we would be a shoe in Got at least as much chance as England anyway... and its the only way Canada will qualify to play in the Finals.

I can't make a case for Qatar but Russia, large country, history of football, emerging market for the sports industry, close connections to a number of countries where commercial sport is not yet highly developed; that's not a daft choice.

Fifa has turned the game into a joke with their corruption and inability to embrace any sort of technology to help referees.
I don't like to say it but mad old Ken Bates was right ten years ago when Fifa wanted to host the World Cup every two years- It's time the countries with the revenue generating leagues broke away and re-established a more credible global body.
