Rose checking in :)

Rose checking in :)
For you lovely folks in BE land, here's a little update.
I'm on my weekly treatments now, Paclitaxel, for those in the know, and generally feeling a lot better on them, although the effects are cumulative. I have had 5, and 7 more to go. My hair is growing slowly, white baby fluff, and I had to shave my legs this week!! (What's THAT about!??)
The thing I like least so far is the weight gain. I have put on quite a lot of the weight that I worked at all summer last year!, and I guess this is common, so trying not to mind. There's no nausea with these, although I get suddenly and acutely fatigued, but I am trying to keep active and still singing. My voice is rather scratchy and easily strained, so I'm being a bit careful and hoping that will resolve.
My feet are a bit sore and tend to swell, but walking helps. Mentally I'm fairly ok, most of the time, but there's a few things I am floundering with somewhat, so I'm taking up the offer of some counselling next week.
I'm booked for radiation therapy for three weeks starting July 15.
What else can I say? This is not fun, but its doable I guess. It's hard to write off a year of your life, but you don't get much option really. Let's just hope all the cut, poison and burn stops the f*&%er coming back!

I have two more weekends of "dance stuff" then I'm free! Time for walkies.
You are doing great - and you will be bemoaning the whole leg-shaving thing too soon.

Why are my leg hairs growing, while my lashes and brows are almost a distant memory?!!

'This is not fun, but it's doable I guess.' Good for you, AR, if it was fun they'd spell it different. Keep up the good work. I'm in the Calgary airport, I can see your house from here!

There is indeed some light at the end of the tunnel .... So long as its not headlights of an oncoming train!!
No its not fun, and yes it is doable. As cancers go, I guess there are worse ones to be had!
And I'm getting a year off work!
Thanks for all the kind thoughts and good wishes! xxx

Good to hear that you're doing OK, Rose. Look after your singing voice - scratchy and easily strained is how most of us sound at the best of times, so any improvement from there is a bonus
In the spirit of both wishing you well and echoing Millie's "small bit of showing off," I thought of your a-capella barbershop exploits the other day when attending #1 son's concert. He's one of the short ones at front left in this clip http://youtu.be/qbqX5SSqgUE (not v good sound on this video, they were better than that in real life...)

Very best wishes for the rest of your treatment. For what its worth, give the counselling a good go, I have seen it do amazing things for some people I know. Of course some people resist it at all costs, I guess it's a personal thing but I really hope it helps. Good luck and very kind wishes
