Sadly a lack of robinsons is the price paid for otherwise living in paradise. At least my local "global food, we can import anything" type store cant get it.... One of my local supermarkets used to sell the Granthams squash, but they stopped stocking it:( |

OK, I suppose I'll now have to admit that I've no clue as to what Robinson's Squash actually is. Apart obviously from a non alcoholic drink, a category in which I have little interest.

Re: robinsons squash??
WOW!! Thanks so much!! :)

Re: robinsons squash??
I bought Roses Lime Cordial in Sobeys today. I like an occasional Lemon and Barley Water and could never get it in France, so my husband used to leave me for six weeks work in Tanzania and bring back a couple of bottles from there. It would now appear that he will shunt a bottle or two to Canada....whatever are the airmiles on this little transaction could one suppose?

Re: robinsons squash??
The Brit store in West Ed sells it along with pork pies and stuff - at a premium of course.

This lot will deliver "non-perishibles" Nation-wide. What you're looking for is under 'Drinks & Beverages'

Re: robinsons squash??
Get some minute maid out of the freezer and make juice up, it's not robinsons but it's about as good as you are going to get without paying a silly price...:)

We never watched it in our house. As kids we only drank Ginger Beer and Sasparilla delivered weekly in stone bottles by The Man. |

No Dandelion and Burdock, Tizer ("The Appetizer"), or IrnBru? You had a deprived childhood.
I thought IrnBru was Scottish beer? BTW, are we of an age? |

Re: robinsons squash??
When we lived on the US/Canada border I would pop over to Canada and buy squash from Zehrs supermarket. Don't know if you have them in Alberta though. Their own brand could, for some reason, be found with the drink mixers as if they should be mixed with alcohol.

Oh heavens the words Tizer and Dandelion & Burdock have just bought back a shed full of memories....the Corona man used to come once a week with all sorts of those goodies.
Or just poured in your mouth, but a bit sweet for that. Not unlike space dust I suppose. All I can find on the net is a reference to a sports/energy drink. |
Re: robinsons squash??
The Lipton crystals are pretty good, sometimes hard to track down. They have them at Pricesmart though and I think there are Pricesmarts in Edmonton. They taste almost identical to squash to me:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5270/...53042687b2.jpg I used to make pitchers of that stuff all the time. |

I thought IrnBru was Scottish beer? BTW, are we of an age? I did not experience Irn Bru as a kid, but later in life, as a result of a Geordie boyfriend; it was an essential part of his culture. It's a pop drunk by northern kids and their comic book hero Oor Wullie, a kind of northern version of Dennis the Menace. Oor Wullie speaks in a kind of Geordie/Lowland Scots dialect, so he has never travelled south, but IrnBru is to him what spinach is to Popeye. |

I don't suppose you remember Maxade? A powder/crystal sort of mix. Came in 'envelopes' and it could be mixed with water to drink or make flavoured ice.

No wonder kids aren't kids for long enough, with all those E Numbers floating around in their system giving ADHD like symptoms
This is as bad as the gravy threads. |

Oor Wullie was a comic strip in the Sunday Post, published by D.C. Thompson in Dundee. Based on your posting record it's hard to imagine you having had a Geordie boyfriend who was thick enough to think the cartoon was from Northern England. And Irn Bru is Scottish too. |

Perhaps she's from Jersey? The Brighton version would probably be: "Oooh-er; Willy!". Or somesuch. |
