The city of Calgary and the Province have been experimenting for years to trying to find a paint mixture that will last longer and be reflective but it appears to have been a lost cause.

We used to see sections of road and highway with numerous paint markings when they were doing such testing, haven't seen any recently though.

To AX no cats eyes in Alberta, the only places I've seen them are the lower mainland of B.C. and Vancouver Island.

My husband says he misses the cats eyes too. He hates having to guess where the lanes are

The worst roads we've come across in North America were undoubtedly in New York. Driving from there to Kamloops nowhere was as bad, and that included going across the Dakotas, which presumably aren't that different from the Canadian provinces a little further North? There is certainly something about how much money you put in your budgets and how much wear and tear the road gets.

The worst roads I've come across in North America are the interstates running through Oklahoma. They seemed a lot worse in my experience than those of the GTA. Mostly concrete sections or road, full of craters (without let up across state) which are incredibly deep and wide. Hit one of them at speed and it seriously destabilises the car. I've no idea how they put up with it. Can't afford better I suppose...

Every day I am seriously thinking about mapping the worst spots on 401. For example, going eastbound in middle lane between 305 and 312 kms is a half-suicide.
