How are their potatoes? Lots of places have good bacon, a fair few have fresh eggs, but what makes it worth driving an hour to Marie's in Grand Valley is the quality of the potatoes. How's their bread? Lots of breakfast places are let down by using mass produced bread. It's not a lot of good being able to fry bacon and eggs if you don't get the crucial accoutrements right.

it has phenomenal skiing. i believe it has the most vertical in north america, and they get sooo much snow

i think when the ski resort opened a few years ago that would have pushed property prices up big time. its almost a carbon copy of golden in that a bunch of developers saw an awesome ski hill they could do something with. so they bought it up, start developing properties there and selling them off at exorbatent prices to rich people who dont know any better and think they are investing in the next whistler. outside of the 5 star condos they are building on the hill, the rest of the town is pretty much your average country town, with more expensive property because of the presence of the ski hill

having said that, if you want to live an outdoor life, it could be a very good place to call home. you might also want to check out Golden as well. It also has fantastic skiing, but is a little closer to Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise.
