REMOTE STARTERS
having been here 1 glorious year in edmonton and only having used public transport. i had formed some very strong views abt driving.
1/ no way was queuing for a coffe at tim hortons for 20 mins at the drive thru a good idea for the enviroment 2/ people who left their engines idling whilst they shopped should be hot 3/ and as for people who warmed their cars up for 30 mins before getting in it well !!!!!!!!!! BUT having owned a car now for just 7 days i may be back peddling some what (hypocrite) as my baby (called betty boop) has a REMOTE STARTER i justify it to my self as " well it is -40 or below" lol any one else in conflict ???? |

Re: REMOTE STARTERS
I like mine in dark car parks at night - I can start the car from the other side, and it gives the impression there's someone waiting in the vehicle for me
But I mainly want a toasty bum when I get in it on frosty mornings :o |

Re: REMOTE STARTERS
In Toronto there is a by law that if you have your engine idling for more than 3 minutes you're eligible for a rather hefty fine. This is of course if there is a traffic officer around to book you on it, but for those that are caught it's nasty. A good by-law I think, no reason to have it idling for that length of time really.

Re: REMOTE STARTERS
When its 35 below its nice to be able to warm your car up from inside the house. I have never let my car warm up for more than about 5 minutes. On the other hand, my husband used to drive the company van and I bet he would let the damn thing run for 20 minutes before he left! I thought it was a waste of gas and bad for the environment.

Re: REMOTE STARTERS
I have no issue with people who let their car warm up enough to allow the heater to blow hot before moving off. It's the sensible thing to do. It's dangerous enough driving when it's 30 below without having the added issues of not being able to see out of the car properly.

Re: REMOTE STARTERS
I have to admit to getting not only a remote car starter (so that I do not have to spend too much time in trying to pry open the doors of the Dodge van) but also a remote garage door opener. :o
P.S. Biiiiink - thank you for the parcel!!!!! Totally pure dead brilliant :D |

Buick Enclave. It's a nice feature. I only wish it had cooled seats for the Summer, but they'll probably add that in time ;)
