Red, White Wine?

Okay, Im totally clueless;) as to which one is good, red or white, but I like to have a sip once or 2x a week. Can anyone suggest a good cheapish wine, red or white or whatever can compliment a good dinner. Do you know of any brand, local or imported I can buy for those special occasions(moderately price)? Cheers,,,,TIA

I always stick to Merlot. If you like red wine play it safe. you can find it at all different price levels but i havent tasted a bad one yet.

for myself red wine = hangover

even tho some of them are lovely i have 1 glass and then its a bad head in the morning..

For some nice easy to drink wines go for californian whites or Rose...
The mass produced ones like gallo family are popular for a reason (and cheap)

We have a personal preference for Australian and New Zealand ones , but not sure how easy these are to get in Canada

Also our favs at the moment tend to be the unoaked chardonays , we just get what ever is on offer that week to try them out.

Just go buy whatevers on sale ,and try various ones yourself , if they are rank either add lemonade or save it until you had bottle already then it dont taste soo bad..

Hmm we not alcholics just like wine  Looking forward to trying the canadian ones..

Me too. Very easy to get and a similar price to the UK.

Cheap and very good = Hardys Stamp label. Oz.

A bit more but well worth it for the quality = Rosemount diamond label. Oz.

Cheap Rose and good = Jackson Triggs white Merlot. Canadian.

I find a Chilean Merlot the best at the mo - or if you can find it a nice tempranillo (sp*) both really tasty in a non vinegar kind of way. Pay about $16 for a drinkable bottle.

White - a nice Columbard is a safe bet, good with or without food and everyone can drink it.
