Does anyone in Canada outside of Quebec really care? The policitians voted for by the french speakers evidently have an insecurity complex.

It was a good article!
A controversial topic always makes for a good report, personally I feel Quebec can speak and write in whatever language they want but it's ridiculous that businesses should have to change their own name/slogan to suit the province.
They need more companies like Wal-mart and Target to locate their and basically state "take us as we are or we are off".

As bilingualism appears to be mandated by Federal Legislation, I am curious to know how the requirement to have the signs in french 3 times the size is constitutional. I suspect Quebec gets around it using the "notwithstanding" clause and simply does so every 5 years.

The UK has a defacto language. It is not official and not protected by law - its the best way.

Within the article was a link to a news item about a complaint involving a paramedic.
It's from last October and the complaint was being investigated.
6 months on I can find no update. Anyone hear anything?
