Are all realtors in Canada useless or just the ones we end up dealing with?? They are so unprofessional. Ours is refusing to answer any of my messages because it's a holiday weekend and she doesn't want to. We need to buy a house, surely long weekends are a good time to sell?? I've emailed a couple of others and had no reply from them either. And if a house has no permits and so cannot be financed, why can't they say that in the listing instead of me wasting my time and money driving out to look at them?
This is one of the places we have looked at that has no permits (we found out later), it is advertised in a couple of places, spot the difference!!!

I eventually went direct to sellers even ones listed with realtors and asked if they were willing to deal direct.
I was buying in Alberta used this website when I found a property-
https://alta.registries.gov.ab.ca/spinii/logon.aspx
The site allows you to do your own background research into a property regarding registered title / plans current owner previous price paid. Its free to join the site but the view certain documents there is a fee of $10 but i certainly found the information available very useful.
I was buying a acreage outside the city so I also contacted the municipal and they were very helpful confirming much of the sellers information regarding zoning etc. Obviously the type of property your interested in purchasing may involve contacting different departments.
Any house/property purchase is a likely to be the biggest financial one your going to make in Canada so gathering as much 'unbiased' info on that property cannot be a bad thing to do.
Or leave it to the 'realtor' and 'Lawyer' :-(
hope this helps others

Odd comments. My experience with BC realtors is that they bite your hand off trying to show you property.

Looking at what realtors charge to sell you'd certainly think everyone of them would be happy to' bite you your hand off ' to show you a property .

thanks for that Joinerboy! I'll see if I can find something similar in the Yukon. the realtors are all dreadful here, they'll sell you a house if they can be bothered, but they don't care much really.
