Some may remember that this year we had an aborted purchase which fell through due to, in our opinion, unsatisfactory dealings done by either one or both Realtors involved.
Anyway, we thought we would report them to the Provincial board and see what happened, even though we knew that nothing would come back our way.
Well, the board agreed with us. They published their decision that "whilst not malicious in intent, the conduct showed unprofessional misconduct".
The defense cited one Realtor's "many years of exemplary service" which to me makes the transgression even more misconduct than was indicated as he basically should have known better. Anyway, the selling Realtor got a $3000 fine and our Realtor at the time got $1000 fine.
The selling Realtor must have gotten about $20k- $30k in fees as he was the selling agent on the two prior properties in the chain as well as the buyer's Realtor whom the deal went to, so the fine is a little drop in the ocean.
But, we have a little satisfaction, though no compensation, that they at least got a wrap on the knuckles and a fine.

We had an offer accepted with no info detailed regarding any other offer in play. A month down the line we were told this 'other offer' had removed conditions so we were out. Our contract said we had 12 hours to remove ours, so we did. Basically ending up with two 'valid' contracts. Oooops.
