Hi - we've been in Nanaimo for a month now and need to get moving on buying a house. I know there were a few others from Nanaimo on here so just wondering if any of you can reccomend a realtor? Am I right in thinking we have to 'sign up' with one exclusively??

just wanted to say 'hi' to you as we're in Nanaimo too.........as for realtors I'd have to pass on that one as the realtor we used wasn't good enough to recommend (IMHO

Hi bananahammock and sans... have u both been in Nanaimo for a while? Any areas you would recommend (or not as the case may be!) to live?
Sans will pm you for the info. Yes, we're in rented accom at the mo' but our container has arrived much earlier than expected and we've put our furniture into storage but obviously want to get a place as fast as we can.

What area is your rental in?...... Ceder is on the up and is still relatively cheap, but they are trying to get permission to build a big mall their and as i understand it, if that happens the houses will go up big time.

Hi emjh,
We've been in Nanaimo about 18mths now, when we came we used just one realtor. You can go to who ever, due to the higher fees you do get the more personal touch as they do not want to loose out on the commission, they can get a little upset if they have put a lot of time in with you.
Prices in the North/Lantzville are the highest South is cheaper but older also tends to get the less popular people so more for your money.
We looked at plenty before deciding, depends on your budget at the end of the day.
You can pm if you wish to know who we used.
Also if the seller is helpful you could be in within a week if your really lucky, I think ours took about 10days from viewing to moving in try that in the UK.
Welcome to the Harbour City.
