Realtor info for Okotoks
Just received an email from the policeUK to Canada forum and thought it might be useful here.
We would like to recommend a great realtor who is based in Okotoks. Her name is Julie Parry and she works for Maxwell Realty. (email - [email protected]). She is married to a Police Officer and has been through the process herself when they moved out here August 2006. Therefore she totally understands your needs and concerns! if you contact her prior to coming out she will send house details from the MLS website, based on the criteria you set.
When we decided on Okotoks, within 24hrs, Julie had emailed us 6 houses at 10pm (she will work all the hours she has to), and arranged to see the houses we had viewed the next day. Some suited, others did not and she totally understood if we said "not for us". We were starting to get quite frustrated after spending nearly a week looking. One of our definites was to be in the Crystal Shores area. If you live in this area you have access to the lake and all its facilities.
We found a house that we liked and said that we wanted to put in an offer. Juile took us to her office and drew up the written offer, arranged a time to deliver it to the sellers and struck a great deal. Plus she negotiated a move in date in August!
Julie also recommended a mortgage broker, lawyer, home surveyor. She did all the phoning about for us and kept us up to speed at every
stage. She also can secure discounts at local stores for furniture and electrical items. Plus she has contacts at the local car dealers too!
We cannot recommend her enough. She is honest, 100% reliable and
knows the in's and out's of everything when it comes to buying a house.
Julie does meet and greets, area orientation, help setting up your SIN and Alberta Health.

We got her contact details from Gibbos1 and i can't praise her enough. I was really sceptical of using a realtor after having a bad experience using a Canmore based realtor when buying our condo. He was a stereotypical Realtor in the mould of an English estate agent i.e once they had the business they become hard to get hold of, don't communicate and don't really welcome your calls. Julie, on the other hand was the one making the calls, holding our hand through the process, telling us in plenty of time when we needed to sign forms, pay deposits, organise insurance etc.
Initially we were unsure of what area in Calgary we wanted to relocate to - Julie was happy to spend a day with us even though she knew we was not in a position to buy. We decided Okotoks was ideal for our family and then arranged another day of viewing with Julie on our next visit to Canada.
When we met at her house there were two couples in there one was with Ed, who is also extremely helpful, as he was about to help them purchase a car and the other couple were using her phone to sort out there services to their house. Both couples had completed purchasing property through Julie and she was still helping them. Julie and Ed do the full relocation package at no extra cost.
We put an offer on a house in Okotoks and Julie struck the deal and persuaded the seller to accept a move in date 3 months later. Whilst the negotiations were going on she lent us a mobile phone so we could contact her and she could contact us which meant we didn't have to use ours and pay the horrendously high phone charges.
Julie has the experience of emigrating herself and recommended a couple of mortgage brokers, a great lawyer, home surveyor, home insurance company and bank.
You will be put at ease by Julie and Ed's friendliness and welcoming nature. We can't thank them enough for their continuing help and assistance
It would have been a fair bit harder without them and they have taken all the stress away.

Just bumping and it's ALL true. Both Julie and Ed are the light and luckily at the beginning of the tunnel.
