staying at the airport to avoid the goodbyes before boarding!
Anyone else close to flying out? and was the goodbye's just as horrendous?

Goodbyes certainly are very difficult. Its a good move that you are staying in a hotel prior to your flight. That way there will be no upsets at the airport. Treat it like you are heading out on a big adventure.
Best of luck on your big day and keep us all up-to-date once you are on Canadian soil

That must have been a fun landing, driving up to Barrie with all the bloody snow we had last night. Not impressed with the weather channel, said at the weekend final snow storm of the season, what they somehow forgot about the 18 inches we got last night.
Good luck with your landing and enjoy all that rushing around for the next couple of days sorting out all the paperwork this end.

We had a big worry about PR cards as we didn't have them when flying back to Canada, if we flew to London to get the letters of confirmations instead (As advised by the embassy!) it would have cost us the best part of £500 and you know what? we had no issues at all...a british passport is perfectly adequate, immigration were satisfied with that.
So here we go... onto the next chapter of the Jarvie family's Canadian settlement adventure.

Well were here!! Yehhh!!, flight was very good actually and The snow is not an issue, however it is spot the new family on the block as the kids are going crazy playing in piles of snow at the side of the car park of all places!! They are to young to have experienced anything like this in the UK.

Where are you in Barrie? We are not too far down the road from you. We had to do our SIN, Customs, Drivers license, registering kids in school, OHIP etc in Barrie so if you need details on where to go just PM me.
Our kids were the same at first with the snow, now they are as bored of it as i am, except when it comes to a snow day. Another one of those this morning.

Well done and Welcome to Canada, we were originally looking at Barrie but somehow the plane left us off at Regina Saskatchewan instead
