So while you may not be able to donate due to have had cancer it doesn't mean others cannot, American Red Cross allows cancer survivors to donate provided its been at least 1 year since treatment and the cancer has not come back.

https://www.cancer.org/treatment/tre...survivors.html

Even if donating whole blood isn't an option, might still be possible to donate parts of blood such as platelets if one has had cancer.

https://www.redcross.org/about-us/ne...-donation.html

Also still possible to donate organs if one has had cancer and depending on health of donor at time of their death, how long they were cancer free, their organs may still be viable for donation and its recommended those who wish to donate even if they had cancer still register as a donor.

Thanks for that information. The Red Cross was adamant I cannot donate blood and my cancer was 27 years. Of course, rules might have changed since then but because I was told I couldn't donate, I never went back. I was a gallon donator btw.

Most probably it is a reaction to depression and boredom.

I am sure it plays a role, I am almost always tired even when working, I have never been a high energy person, sleep has always been my best friend...lol

Wonder how long it will take Uber to build up enough drivers.

Crazy really, his investment in that watch seems to have paid off.

The cost of his watch back in the 70's is roughly $21,100.88 in 2019 dollars, I assume 3,000 some odd dollars in the 70's was a decent chunk of change, well it still is, but must have been a lot bigger chunk back then.

So looking at some old US Census reports, median male annual income back then was $7,400 per year, so like 50% of the median annual income to buy that watch, crazy.

He only paid $345 for it in the 70's, not $3,000

I know for many the noise would be annoying but when I was younger I always wanted to live in this location, watch planes all day at home.

Not quite the same level of swish perhaps, but I lived in a hotel on the airport apron 12 years ago for 18 months, on and off, and it was utter bloody hell. First thing in the morning the room would start to fill with the smell of jet fuel and wasn't at all pleasurable...there was always some rumbling, farting engine doing something noisy...

Yes certainly not for everyone. I like the smell of jet fuel, I guess because I liked working around them, the smell makes me feel good, brings good memories.

That location in San Diego you would think would be low rent because of the noise, but its the opposite, actually a pretty high rent and desirable area.

I hear you, I feel the same way about trains. I grew up with a railway track across the road and always knew what the time was from hearing the trains go past at different times of the day and night. When I'd been married for a few years and had just moved into a new rental I was woken early one morning with a noise like thunder, I thought the house was falling down! Looked over the fence the next morning and the freight train tracks were about 3 feet away. I should have known the rent was cheap for a reason  I never minded though, in fact I liked it.

I wonder if being near trains for all my early years was what inspired my love of trains now. The perfect holiday for me would be touring entirely by train, exploring new places during the day and being rocked to sleep in my cabin at night
