Sometimes the weather in Canada goes beyond mind boggling...the Trans Canada Highway is shut due to flooding, most of downtown is shut and has been all week because of it and the flooding wont stop till next week and is severe....and now we have what appears to be a hurricane blowing...please could it just be calm for a little while...please.... |

I loved school and I loved pretty much all my subjects, except one - History.
Even after years of reflection I'm still not sure if that was down to bad teachers (they were dreadful), a bad curriculum (it wasn't very interesting) or just youthful indifference to history. Nowadays I love history and wish I was better educated about it. But... those snippets that did make it past the thick skull defense now make perfect sense and the events themselves are intensely interesting, especially in the context of contemporary goings on. History repeats itself so often, similar mistakes made time after time and history, far from being the sad subject I was subjected to can be brought to life and not drowned in useless drivel that was thrown at me. |

I mostly gates school but ii did have a great history teacher who used to matcm up and down the desk aisles when the Romans invaded, gave us grisly tales of industrial revolution accidents, threw tea into the harbour. Great teacher from that point of view and it gave .w a lasting interest in history

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Excellent.
Nostalgia has been paying off for hollywood lately. This movie is from my generation who seems to enjoy the nostalgia of child/teenhood.
