My dreams were dashed today - got some mortgage advise and it wasnt good. Best i can afford is $178K (I was looking in Fraser valley) but based on what i pay in rent right now (not including taxes and strata fees) then its more around $100K.

Can you even get a property for $100K in Canada - like in the whole country?

This decision may have an inpact on me returning to the UK but its early days though.

Of course mobile homes are available for considerably less than $100k.

52 listed on Realtor.ca under $175k in the Fraser Valley. 30 under $100k.

Absolutely you can, some very nice ones here.

Just a sample. All detached, close to downtown.

I think Bristol has a property for sale in Moncton for under 100k.

Wow really?

They sent trailers/mobile homes as I would prefer a condo?!

The mortgage broker was like 'yeah you are probably going to have to go in with someone else'

Condo/strata here, under $100k tends to be low builds like these

Paying a bit more gets ones like these, which are springing up like weeds.

You can certainly get condos in Chilliwack for under 175k.

I haven't a clue about the geography of the area but on telly on one of those property shows they had houseboats for sale in Vancouver. They were cheap.

This listing was a surprise to me, because I saw an article in the Chronicle earlier today about a proposal to turn it into a 14 room hotel with a luxury penthouse. These days 180 grand is cheap for a business.

This is what I need for the dastardly downtown commute. You can drive it on the pavement.

Someone in our village has one if those. Wouldn't trust it in a high wind but it's so cute.

Japanese mini-truck, those don't look so much like a clown car and there are some nice models.

But these can ride on the sidewalk I believe. But I agree, you would look like a bit of a cad in it, on the bright side I don't think there are any specific laws about consuming alcohol while driving one, so on the ride home, you probably wouldn't care.
