Ah, so it was a sudden thing then. I was going on the basis you wouldn't have done the deed without planning body disposal, alibi etc.

In the vein of "Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes", the point being that when they get pissed off you will already be a mile away and they will have no shoes.

Apparently HID's halloumi nut casserole she attempted last week had a bit of a malfunction and as we're doing the ThnxG meal this weekend it was suggested I came home early to put the oven on to the self-clean function. Still, it does mean that while my eyes are watering and I'm generally being asphyxiated, I can have a peaceful afternoon of drinking and Xbox.

Pilots who try and blame ground crew for something they failed to do are not cool.

Whatever happened to that one on hwy 7 somewhere east of the 'Log Cabin' place where the bus from Toronto to Ottawa stops. It was on the south side of the road and I think it was part of a motel? It never seemed like a good location away from any town.

It is good though my husband said his vindaloo wasn't good. The veggie stuff is excellent . Never really took to the other two places.

Are you going to friends for thanksgiving ?

From a Guardian article about how to write complaints:

Take your correspondent gently but firmly by the elbow, rather than bashing heads. Once an exchange gets oppositional or abusive, it will stay that way. I’ve been let off parking tickets by writing politely and apologetically to the council to explain the circumstances. I’ve never got anywhere by calling someone a jobsworth.
Good advice for those who use the word.

Yikes...calling staff at Heathrow at Christmas time a 'jobsworth' got me nowhere but my Canadian born kids learned a new word.

Received a threatening and random call from a very incompetent scammer this morning.

It was a CRA scam: “you MUST provide all your bank and credit card details RIGHT THIS MINUTE because the MOUNTIES are on their way to arrest you RIGHT NOW!!!. You have 2 minutes before they arrive”.

Now, this was amusing to me (not least because I played dumb and requested service in French as well as asking for their mailing address...), but not so amusing when one thinks of others who may not have a good grasp of English &/or the way CRA/government agencies here function :(.
