Quorn!

Quorn!
Went across the line today down to Bellingham, and saw this in Target at Bellisfair mall:
Got some of the Chicken style burgers, will report if they're just as nice as the UK ones!
Apparently Quorn has been in the USA since 2004 ( http://www.quorn.us/About-Us/ ), but this is definitely the first time I noticed it. Thought it might be useful info for other Expats...

Sorry, going across the line is the common term here for going across the land border into the US, I admit it could have been clearer though.

Is Quorn not available generally in Canada? I can't get it, and have never tried it, but I've always wanted to - had sort of hoped I might get the opportunity to there. I really like the idea of it.

Re: Quorn!
Don't get it - if you are veggie why do you want to eat something that resembles a meat product? Same with stuff like veggie "bacon" & "sausages"?
The only reason behind it would be if you are struggling with dietary issues such as high cholesterol or blood pressure and want something that tastes like meat to soften the blow of a diet change. Each to their own though.

Going to a barbie with a less than helpful carnivorous chef - easier to take a Vegiie burger . / sausage - it ll fit in the buns . . . .

I'm not sure about that Oink, so I'll take your word for it.
I just realised I didn't 'know' what Quorn was, I thought it was probably some soya based product - so I Googled it, gosh, it's grown in vats and is fungal in origin!! Sounds a bit like something from Torchwood. What does it taste like? Is it tasteless like Tofu, and just takes the taste of whatever you flavour it with?

So eating something resembling the taste and feel of meat without the death of a living thing is good as far as I am concerned.
What I hate about being a vegetarian here is the fact they separate you out as some sort of health freak, anything veggie becomes wholewheat etc and gets sold as more expensive in the healthy food section.
