We visited QC in June and loved it.
We got a good deal at the Hilton Hotel there - great views from the pool on the roof, and easy access to the rest of the city from there. Don't know about other accommodation, sorry.
Found lots of bars, cafes, restaurants to choose from, especialy down in the old quarter - you can get the funicular from Le Chateau Frontenac (now there's a place to stay if money is no object:lol:) into the Quartier petit champlain http://quartierpetitchamplain.com/en
we spent ages there, lots of good places to eat and drink, as well as tourist shops, galleries etc.
If you get chance, a trip down the St Lawrence is also worth while - we did it one evening and had a great time
Don't know if you've seen this website, might give you more ideas

I liked but wasn't thrilled by the Chateau Frontenac. I thought the Auberge du Tresor a better deal (small hotel over restaurant very close to the Chateau). Le Vendôme restaurant I thought was excellent, seeing a bored a potentially troublesome child at our table, the staff whisked her away and amused her in the kitchen

Business trip stretched into a vacation. The Quebec taypayers funded the hotel.

Hiya

There are two restos I would recommend in Quebec City. First one is Lapin Saute, in Petit Champlain. Very nice for rabbit and duck, but make sure to book in advance.

Second place is Chez Victor, you can't be wrong with it. Best burgers ever!

As for place to stay, depends what you are doing. Last time I went to the Marriots and really enjoyed it. Great location, nice fireplace at the entrance, close to the citadelle and parliament (which you can visit, go for it!). Literally in front of Gate St-Jean and the theater presenting Les Miserables.

As for what to see, are you ready to travel a bit and get out of the town? If so, you need to go to Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre and see church. As well as the Chute Montmorency. It is also worth a trip on Ile D'Orleans, wonderful for blueberry products, and a few good wine makers.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will probably stick around the city and keep additional traveling to a minimum. Chute Montmorency - having spent a great summer in Yosemite I think we are all waterfalled out, will check out the other suggestions.

Well if you'll rather stay in the city, and like Museum, the best needs to be Musee des Civilisations. A variety of exhibitions for every taste. :)

Try L'hotel du Vieux Quebec. I stayed there last Feb. Nice, not massively expensive and right in the heart of the old city. Great pub just up the hill.

Looks great unfortunately no rooms available for proposed dates. Would have been a nice one too.

Ahh welcome back. Good vacation? And, more importantly, any luck with the Biiink in a Bikini picture quest? Enquiring minds want to know......
